Land, the directorial debut of actress Robin Wright, will open the 18th edition of Anonimul IFF.
The festival program includes 13 Romanian short films, selected from over 80 entries by film critic Ionuț Mareș. The winner of the Ovidiu Bose Paștină Award will be chosen by the Anonimul Foundation, and the Award for the Best Romanian Short Film, worth 1000 euros, will be decided by vote, by the public.
Regarding this year’s selection, Ionuț Mareș states: “The enthusiasm and drive that filmmakers have shown in these challenging times is inspiring, especially since we know it wasn’t easy for them at all. Therefore, this year’s ANONIMUL short film selection includes works from directors who made their debut in feature film this year – Ruxandra Ghiţescu and Octav Chelaru, and from two of the young filmmakers present at Cannes 2021, Andrei Epure and Andreea Borţun, but also films made by two of the most promising students at UNATC, the Directing department: Alma Buhagiar and Theodor Ioniţă. Alina Şerban and Valeriu Andriuţă, known primarily as actors, return to ANONIMUL with the new shorts they sign as directors, and theater director Ioana Păun debuts in cinema with a surprising film. The program is completed by two comedies, a musical by Alex Pintică and a gangster film by Andrei Redinciuc, along with the animations by Paul Mureşan and the young collective 4INAROOM.”
The festival comprises two short film competitions, Romanian and International, a feature film competition, out-of-competition film screenings, as well as meetings with filmmakers and the teams of the selected productions.
The festival program is completed by 4 powerful stories signed by four young Romanian female directors: Empiric (dir. Ioana Țurcan), Fragile (dir. Ioana Mischie), Hidden Places (dir. Teona Galgoțiu), and Nobody Gives a Fuck About Pink (dir. Miruna Minculescu).
Screening outside the competition is also Eugen Jebeleanu’s debut feature film, Poppy Field, which premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and has already won several awards at festivals such as Torino Film Festival, D’A Film Festival Barcelona, FEST International Film Festival, Gijón International Film Festival.
