Script Pitch & Script Lab – Call for entries

8 July, 2020

Interfilm Berlin kicked off the 8th edition of Script Pitch, the international competition for short scripts.

Founded in 1982, interfilm Berlin International Short Film Festival seeks to search out skilled and creative filmmakers and bring their work together –  presenting them to an international audience. Focusing on short film, as an independent genre, interfilm has established itself as one of the most important short film festivals in Europe and is one of the festivals that further offers participants the opportunity to enter the race for the Academy Awards.

The workshop will take place between November 10-14, 2020. The previous editions were held in Berlin, but taking in consideration the global pandemic and health regulations, this year the organizers are ready to offer solutions, whether it will be an online, onsite or hybrid edition, through a combination of both options, depending on how it will be best to proceed.

The submission deadline is July 17, 2020. Eight contestants will be selected to participate in the competition. Within the script development workshop they will sharpen their creative skills under the guidance of industry experts and, at the festival, they will have the opportunity to meet international filmmakers.

Moreover, interfilm Berlin offers free access to the festival for up to two more members of each project.

On November 14, 2020 the eight finalists will have 5 minutes to pitch their projects in front of an international jury. The Best Script Pitch award consists of 2,000 euros and further training in Writers Rooms and in the development-program CineSud ShortLab.

The entire competition will be held in English. Submitted scripts have to be in English and may not exceed the length of 20 pages. Animation scripts are also accepted.
