The 15th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala took place on June 29, at the “Mihai Eminescu” Summer Theater. The ceremony was hosted by Romanian actor Adrian Nicolae and the event was broadcast live on the Voyo and TIFF Unlimited platforms, as well as on the Gopo Awards website.

Film critic Magda Mihăilescu and Enache Hărăbor, master model maker/sculptor and close collaborator of director Ion Popescu-Gopo, were honored this year with the Special Award, in recognition of their exceptional careers in cinema.

Theater, film and TV actor Costel Constantin received the Gopo Lifetime Achievement Award, offered by Apa Nova Bucharest.

Acasă, My Home (dir. Radu Ciorniciuc), Collective (dir. Alexander Nanau), Ivana the Terrible (dir. Ivana Mladenovic), and Uppercase Print (dir. Radu Jude) competed for the top award, Best Picture.

The movies nominated this year in the European Film category were: Les Miserables (dir. Ladj Ly), Il Traditore (dir. Marco Bellocchio), It Must Be Heaven (dir. Elia Suleiman), and Sorry We Missed You (dir. Ken Loach).
