ANIM’EST

Anim’est, Bucharest International Animation Film Festival, has recently opened its call for entries. There are six competition categories: short film, feature film, video, student film, Romanian short film and Minimest – animation films for children; each section will have a winner, plus the audience award offered to the most voted short film in the international competition (short film and student film). Moreover, the Anim’est Trophy winner will enter the list of films qualified for the Oscar nominations, Anim’est being the first festival in Romania to receive this distinction.

The festival will be held between October 4th-13th. Submissions are open for animation films produced after 1st of January 2018, which are to be presented for the first time in Romania (except for Romanian productions), and the deadline for entries is June 20th, 2019.

TIFF

Transylvania International Film Festival will take place between May 31st-June 8th, 2019, in Cluj-Napoca, and entries in the Romanian Film Days category are open until 1st of March 2019. This section includes Romanian feature or short films, produced during 2018-2019. The films which are to be presented in national premiere have priority in the selection process, and those made in a minority co-production with Romania will be screened out-of-competition.

CEAU, CINEMA!

Ceau, Cinema! Film Festival will take place in Timişoara and Gottlob, between 18th and 21st of July 2019. The festival seeks to support and provide a cinema platform for the countries with traditional minorities living in the Banat region: Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, Israel, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary. For the film to be eligible for submission, the producer has to be from one of these countries.

So, until April 25th, 2019, producers and distributors can submit fiction, documentary or animation feature films produced between 2018 and 2019. The festival awards include the “Razvan Georgescu” Grand Jury Prize, worth 1000 Euros, and the Audience Award, worth 500 euros.

PELICAM

Pelicam Film Festival will be held in Tulcea, on the Danube shore, between June 20th-23rd, and entries are open until March 15th, 2019. Pelicam films talk and raise questions about the environment.

There are four international categories in the competition where you can submit your project: the feature film competition, the short film competition, the Black Sea Docs competition – dedicated to documentary films from and about the countries around the Black Sea, and Fresh Perspectives – focusing on documentary films, dedicated especially to the young audience, which suggest or present alternative solutions for a sustainable future.

To qualify for the Black Sea Docs and Fresh Perspectives categories, the films must be produced after 1st of January, 2017. As for the short and feature films categories, submissions are open only for those produced before 1st of January, 2018. International films will be screened in national premiere.

SUPER

Adolescence comes and passes right away, but it’s the period of time when you can do anything, and Super, the festival of films made by teenagers, is your chance to stop putting off the films you would like to make when ‘you’ll get older’.

If you are between 14 and 19 years old, you haven’t finished high school yet, and you like to experience with your video camera, Super is the place for you. Get your team and submit your short film until 1st of March. There are no theme restrictions and films can fit into either the national (Romania and the Republic of Moldova) or the international competition, or can be screened out-of-competition.
