FILM+ – Entries are open for the 5th edition
FILM+ is a program dedicated to young filmmakers who are on their first projects, that supports independent, low-budget productions.
The program provides consultancy for the entire production process, from the development of the script, to the actual making of the film, while providing the necessary equipment for filming and post-production, as well as people to complete the team, if necessary.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops, masterclasses and discussions during a one-week residency that will take place in Bucharest.
Among the tutors in the program are Paul Negoescu, Andrei Ujica, Anamaria Antoci, Ada Solomon, Dana Bunescu etc.
Depending on the stage of the project, there are three categories where they can be submitted to:
Development LAB
At Development LAB you can submit your project if you have a screenplay still in its early phase (first draft). Selected participants will be assisted by FILM+ tutors and industry professionals in developing their scripts and learn more on fundraising strategies.
In order to apply for this program, you need to send only the script; the budget is not required.
LAB production
For this program, you can submit projects that already have the final screenplay, the budget and resources needed for production. FILM+ will provide support and consultancy on production development, filming solutions, script changes, etc. The program can also contribute to the existing resources with film equipment or team members.
The total budget of the film should not exceed 30,000 euros.
Work in Progress LAB
Work in Progress LAB is open to completed films, as far as shooting goes, but still in the post-production stage. FILM+ will provide help with editing, sound, color corrections and other post-production elements, as well as distribution strategies in festivals.
In order to apply on this program, you need to send a synopsis, a first edit of the film and the budget scheme. As with Production LAB, the film budget must not exceed EUR 30,000.
Submissions are open only to films produced in Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova or Serbia, which have not obtained funding from a large state institution in any of the mentioned countries, and don’t have a production deal with any large film company.
Filmmakers can submit their projects regardless of the genre (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental). Both short and feature film projects are accepted, the latter only if the filmmaker is on his debut. Materials must be written in Romanian or English.
The same participant may submit projects to different sections, but not the same project to more than one section.
A number of participants will be selected to take part in an online interview. Following the interview, the final participants for each category will be chosen.
Entries are open until July 15, 2020 and the program will take place between October and November, 2020. For more details and submission forms, visit the FILM+ website.
