Applications are now open for the 12th edition of the East Doc Platform, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague. Documentary feature films, non-fiction series or VR projects in development, production, or post-production stage can be submitted.
The platform is aimed at filmmakers coming from countries participating in the Creative Europe program (the EU member states, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia).
East Doc Platform is the largest co-production, funding and distribution platform for Central and East European documentaries. It includes the following programs:
East Doc Forum – Participants will attend a 5-day workshop and the pitching sessions, where they will present their projects (in the development/early production stage). They will receive guidance from international experts and enjoy networking opportunities.
Since its foundation in 2001, more than 300 documentaries have been made with the support of East Doc Forum, including Over the Limit (dir. Marta Prus, 2017), A New Shift (dir. Jindrich Andrs, 2020), When the War Comes (dir. Jan Gebert, 2018), Sofia’s Last Ambulance (dir. Ilian Metev, 2012), Ukrainian Sheriffs (dir. Roman Bondarchuk, 2015), The Russian Job (dir. Petr Horký, 2018), Domino Effect (dir. Elwira Niewiera, Piotr Rosolowski, 2014), Rabbit a la Berlin (dir. Bartek Konopka, 2009).
East Doc Series – An extension of the East Doc Forum, which focuses on documentary series. It includes individual consultations and feedback from international experts, lectures and case studies, as well as networking opportunities.
East Doc Interactive – A 3-day workshop for non-fiction interactive and immersive projects, VR, augmented reality, or 360° films. Up to five projects will be selected for the workshop, where they will benefit from one-on-one meetings with industry professionals and will be presented within the interactive pitch at the East Doc Forum.
East Doc Market – Over the course of two days, filmmakers pitch their projects in 15-minute one-on-one meetings with distributors, funders, sales agents, or festival representatives.
The filmmaker teams (director and producer) have to attend the East Doc Platform events held between March 24-30, 2023.
Projects can be submitted until November 13, free of charge. Successful applicants whose projects are selected have to pay a participation fee of 150€, which covers accommodation and one meal per day per person.
The selected projects will be announced in December. For more details, visit the East Doc Platform web page.
