2001: A Space Odyssey – Cosmic Ballet

Including “2001: A Space Odyssey” in a TIFF program dedicated to artificial intelligence (unfortunately) titled “Tomorrow Is Fear” is, of course, a predictable choice. But the film’s ability to chart its own path – so incandescently marking a ‘before’ and an ‘after’ in the history of cinema – is enough to dispel any doubt. In the face of Kubrick’s sumptuous cosmic creation, all we can do is remain endlessly open to it.
