From Tehran to the Big Screen: Travel Notes, Films, and Other Demons

When Films in Frame invited me to write about Iranian cinema, my mind immediately went back to my trip to Iran in 2017. That was when I had my first direct encounter with that world – with places and people I had previously seen only in films. I went through the notes I had written at the time (and later, in 2018), on the spot, and started imagining a dialogue between then and now – between the places I visited and the films that have stayed with me over the years.
